the science, translated.
We don't hide behind borrowed authority. Here's what the published literature actually says about the ingredients and named strains in the Numera system — stated plainly, cited openly, and no further than the evidence goes.
strain identity → the dose we actually put in → how it gets there → what's published → what's tested → and the limits of all of it.
These references describe how our ingredients and named strains have been studied in the scientific literature. They are provided for general educational context, not as claims that Numera products diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease.
three numbers worth remembering.
bacterial cells living in and on you, now estimated at roughly 1:1 with your own human cells.
the share of adults who report regular bloating, one of the most common GI complaints.
live cells in every N°03 serving of two capsules, across 4 named, label-listed strains.
strains
A strain is not a species. "L. acidophilus" names a species — an enormous family of organisms that behave differently from one another. "La-14" names one specific, traceable organism, deposited and sequenced. Most probiotics on the shelf name only the species. Every live strain in the Numera system is named down to its code.

| genus | species | strain | in | note |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Lactobacillus | acidophilus | La-14 | N°03 | genome-sequenced; identity published — PMID 23788546 |
| Bifidobacterium | animalis subsp. lactis | Bl-04 | N°03 | evaluated in a randomized, placebo-controlled human trial — PMID 34927036 |
| Lactiplantibacillus | plantarum | Lp-115 | N°03 | named, label-listed strain |
| Lacticaseibacillus | paracasei | Lpc-37 | N°03 | evaluated in randomized human trials — PMID 37662485 |
| Lactobacillus | acidophilus | LA85 | N°02 | 1 billion CFU, listed on the label |
| Bacillus | coagulans | LactoSpore® | N°01 | 166 mg delivering 6 billion CFU, listed on the label |
L. plantarum and L. paracasei were reclassified into the genera Lactiplantibacillus and Lacticaseibacillus in 2020 (Zheng et al., PMID 32293557). Labels still carry the older names. Both are correct.
Corrected July 2026. An earlier version of this page listed an enzyme blend that isn't in N°01. The formula above is what the label prints.
doses
Every amount below is copied off the label. Where the label doesn't print a number, we say that instead of inventing one.
Digestive Comfort & Soothing Blend 325 mg (Gingerols™ ginger root extract, peppermint leaf, bromelain 2400 GDU/g, DigeZyme®) · LactoSpore® Bacillus coagulans 166 mg / 6 billion CFU · Energy & Vitality Complex 126 mg (ashwagandha root 5% withanolides, B12, B6, folate) · Nutrient Replenishment Matrix 22 mg (zinc, iron, biotin, D3) · BioPerine® 5 mg · vitamin D3 50 mcg · vitamin B6 26 mg · folate 400 mcg DFE · vitamin B12 525 mcg · biotin 5 mcg · iron 18 mg · magnesium 200 mg · zinc 20 mg.
2 capsules per serving · 30 servings · 60 capsules.
Three of those are printed as blend totals rather than per-ingredient doses. We print them as the label prints them.
organic apple cider vinegar powder 1000 mg · inulin (Jerusalem artichoke) 200 mg · DigeZyme® enzyme blend 100 mg · L. acidophilus LA85 1 billion CFU.
2 capsules daily.
Proprietary Blend of Probiotic Bacteria 800 mg — 4 named strains, 40 billion CFU total (La-14 · Bl-04 · Lp-115 · Lpc-37) · MAKTREK® Bi-Pass marine polysaccharide 60 mg · FOS prebiotic 24 mg.
2 capsules daily. 60 capsules = 30 servings.
90% roasted arabica (Brazil and Mexico — Bourbon, Typica, Catuai, Catucai, Mundo Novo) · 5% organic lion's mane · 5% organic chaga. Medium roast, low acidity. 12 oz (340 g), 34 servings.
One tablespoon (10 g) per cup, brewed however you already brew.
where our dose is smaller than the study's
Two of the amounts above are smaller than the amounts used in the research we cite. Our inulin is 200 mg and our FOS is 24 mg; prebiotic studies typically use several grams. They're in the capsule to feed the cultures travelling with them, not to stand in for a fibre supplement. We'd rather write that here than let a citation imply something the dose doesn't support.
delivery
getting there is the whole job.
A probiotic only counts if it survives stomach acid and arrives alive. N°03 uses MAKTREK® Bi-Pass — a marine polysaccharide derived from brown seaweed — to carry the cultures through the stomach and release them further down, where FOS prebiotic fibre feeds them on arrival.
what we haven't done
MAKTREK® Bi-Pass is our manufacturer's delivery technology, described here as it is documented to us. We have not run our own gut-model survival testing, and we don't publish survival percentages we didn't measure.
evidence
One row per ingredient. What was studied, where it was published, and a clickable PubMed link — nothing further.
CFU or AFU?
CFU — colony-forming units — counts cells that grow into a visible colony. AFU — active fluorescent units — counts cells a laser reads as intact, including some that would never grow. For the same product, the AFU number is the bigger one. Neither number tells you how many cells arrive in your gut. We print CFU, the figure our manufacturer certifies, because it's the one you can compare across labels.
- Bacillus coagulans (LactoSpore®)
A spore-forming probiotic, printed on our label at 166 mg delivering 6 billion CFU per serving.
General wellness context - Bromelain (Ananas comosus, stem)
A plant enzyme standardized to 2400 GDU/g, part of the 325 mg Digestive Comfort & Soothing Blend alongside ginger and peppermint.
General wellness context

A named strain evaluated in randomized human trials (studied in the context of stress and sleep).
Lpc-37 ChillEx trial, 2023 - B. lactis Bl-04

testing
Every Numera formula is manufactured in the United States from globally sourced ingredients, in an FDA-registered facility that follows current Good Manufacturing Practices.
Tested for identity, potency and purity before it reaches you.
Every ingredient appears on the label and on this page, at exactly the dose the manufacturer discloses.
Ask us for the certificate of analysis on a lot and we'll send what our manufacturer provides.
where we print a blend, not a dose
N°03's probiotics are printed as one 800 mg blend at 40 billion CFU — the four strains are named, their individual doses are not. N°01 prints three blends the same way. N°02 doses every ingredient on its own. That's the manufacturer's disclosure, and we print it as given rather than guessing at a breakdown.
what we don't claim
- we have not run a clinical trial on these formulas. every study on this page was run by someone else, on an ingredient or a strain — not on numera.
- we don't publish AFU counts. bigger number, same bacteria.
- we have no scientific advisory board, and we're not going to rent one.
- we have no customer reviews yet. when we do they'll be real, verified, and not written by us.
- we don't say cure, heal, detox or treat. not out of caution — because it wouldn't be true.
this list gets shorter as we earn it. it never gets invented.
named strains. printed doses. nothing hidden.
Every strain on the label. Every dose exactly as the label prints it — including the blends our manufacturer prints as totals. Third-party tested by our manufacturer for identity, potency and purity.
